• Jinan Welcome Industrial Group was founded in 1956. It was one of the ten largest meat-processing plants under the former Ministry of Commerce, known as "Shandong Jinan Meat Joint Processing Plant." It flourished during the planned economy era.
• In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the company failed to adapt to the changes of the market economy. Outdated leadership concepts and chaotic management led to nine consecutive years of losses.
• By 1997, the company owed a total of 298 million yuan, with an asset-liability ratio as high as 140%, forcing more than 3,000 employees to be laid off. The factory area was dilapidated and desolate, on the verge of bankruptcy.

In September 1997, Liu Shengru, then only 35 years old, was appointed director of Jinan Meat Joint Factory by the Jinan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. In December of the same year, the newly built meat and aquatic products wholesale market officially opened.

In 1998, the Meat Joint Factory resumed the slaughtering and processing of live pigs, which had been suspended for many years, and opened Welcome Worry-Free Meat specialty stores throughout the city.

In 1999, Director Liu turned the Meat Joint Factory from a loss-making to a profitable enterprise in less than two years, and its economic indicators ranked among the top three in the meat and food industry in East China for three consecutive years.

In 2000, the meat processing plant, three years after its transfer, achieved great success, and Mr. Liu Shengru was elected president of the East China Food Industry Association.

In 2001, the Shandong Provincial Government awarded it the "Advanced Enterprise in Overcoming Losses and Difficulties"; in November, it underwent shareholding reform and was renamed "Jinan Weierkang Food Co., Ltd."

In 2002, a new 30,000-ton low-temperature meat product plant, with advanced domestic technology, was completed and put into operation.

In 2003, a new 8,000-ton cold storage (B warehouse) was put into operation, bringing the total cold storage capacity to 25,000 tons.

• In 2004, the traditional pig slaughtering and processing industry was strategically relocated to Liaocheng City, and the first holding subsidiary, "Shandong Welcome Sanyang Food Co., Ltd." was established.
• In 2005, a new 25,000-ton cold storage facility (C warehouse) was put into operation, increasing cold storage capacity to 45,000 tons.
• In 2006, Jinan Lianmei Pet Food Co., Ltd. was established to produce and export high-end pet food. It was the first enterprise in mainland China to export pet food to the United States; a new 30,000-ton cold storage facility (D warehouse) was put into operation, increasing cold storage capacity to 75,000 tons.

• In 2007, the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine awarded the "Welcome" brand of fresh frozen segmented pork products the "China Famous Brand" award, marking the first time a Jinan meat food company received this top national honor.
• In 2008, eight ministries and commissions, including the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance, recognized it as a "National Key Leading Enterprise for Agricultural Industrialization," the first time a Jinan meat food company received this top national honor. It also became a central, provincial (Shandong), and municipal (Jinan) government-reserved meat processing and storage enterprise.
• By 2009, the market had four trading zones (A, B, C, and D) with over 600 shops, becoming a major national meat and aquatic product distribution center.

• In 2010, the new E cold storage facility was put into operation, with a cold storage capacity of 100,000 tons; the market E area business buildings were put into operation, with more than 800 businesses.
• In 2011, a pet food industry consortium was established, cooperating with Nestle, the world's largest food company, for exports, becoming the company in mainland China with the most complete and largest quantity of exported high-end pet food.
• In 2012, the F cold storage facility was completed and put into operation, with a total cold storage capacity of 120,000 tons, ranking among the top in the industry nationwide.

• In 2013, the G cold storage facility was put into operation, with a total cold storage capacity of 140,000 tons.
• In 2014, a new No. 1 trading hall was built and put into use, and the meat processing industry was transferred to Liaocheng; in October, Jinan Welcome Food Co., Ltd. was officially renamed Jinan Welcome Industrial Group Co., Ltd. Welcome Pharmaceutical Company achieved a major breakthrough in new drug development, and its new product "Meitadoxin Injection" was approved.
• In 2015, the new H warehouse (50,000 tons) was put into operation, bringing the total cold storage capacity to 190,000 tons; the No. 2 trading hall market upgrade and renovation was successfully completed.

• In 2016, the No. 3 trading hall was put into use, and the construction of the G cold storage group began; international trade business was launched.
• In 2017, "Shandong Kangwei Food Testing Co., Ltd." was established, obtaining the CMA inspection and testing certificate and becoming one of the first domestic third-party testing institutions. It obtained the "5A-level logistics enterprise" qualification, the highest qualification in the domestic logistics industry.
• In 2018, the G2 and G3 cold storage facilities were put into use, with a total cold storage capacity of 270,000 tons. International trade business imports reached 1.1 billion yuan, ranking third among all import enterprises in the city and first in consumer goods.

• In 2019, the Welcome Inland Port passed the acceptance inspection of the General Administration of Customs and officially opened in September. The Liaocheng Welcome Food Company was established, and a meat processing base with an annual pig slaughtering capacity of 2 million was constructed.
• In 2020, it was selected as one of the first national backbone cold chain logistics bases on behalf of Jinan City.
• In 2021, it became the first in Shandong Province to simultaneously possess four of the highest qualifications in the domestic logistics industry: 5A-level logistics, 5-star cold chain logistics, 3-star green warehouse, and 3A-level credit logistics.

• In 2022, a new A-warehouse cold storage facility (30,000 tons) was built, bringing the total cold storage capacity to 300,000 tons; import business reached a record high; and the subsidiary Welcome Baijiao Hui Company became the designated dumpling producer for the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
• In 2023, a new B-warehouse (30,000 tons) was built, increasing the cold storage capacity to 330,000 tons; main business income reached nearly 10 billion yuan, more than 200 times that of 1997!
• In 2024, the new Hall No. 3, the new H-warehouse were put into operation, and the A-warehouse renovation was completed, bringing the cold storage capacity to 360,000 tons, making it the largest single cold storage facility in the country.
